All summer I have been wanting to drop in at The Jam at Jubilee which is held Thursday eves at Jubilee Park in old downtown Abby throughout the summer but with trips away and other obligations it seemed I would miss it this year.  But WAIT this past Thursday I was free……well at least for a couple hours and was able to make it out to the final night! It has been a couple years since I last attended and boy has this thing grown…..many more vendors and food carts as well as a games area featuring a life sized Scrabble game and jenga…..there was even a Beer and Wine garden!  The two acts I saw while there were both excellent!  Got a chance to chat with my friend, Kayla of Dragonlilly Gardens, who is one of the dedicated volunteers that make this all happen and she says they have been averaging 900 attendees each night! Looks like this event is here to stay and will get better every year so mark your calendar and check it out in 2013.

Last Monday eve I took part in a local workshop (so great to not have to drive into vancouver) where the theme was Urban Youth.  We had some models and worked on our use of natural and flash lighting in three locatios….Old Abby…Willband Bird sanctuary…and finally City Hall after dark. I had a great time and and met some nice fun people….and yes I even learned a thing or two along the way! Many thanks to Tamara of Beyond Exposure, Anita of  Perfect Moments Photography, and Ted of Omnilargess Services for putting this together and sharing thier knowledge and experiance with us beginners.

Here are a few of my shots from the workshop.

Today was a beautiful sunny day and I was fortunate enough to spend some of it at Cultus Lake with the Senft Family.  Andrea, who I met while leading a run clinic at the local Running Room, and it was a blast to hang with them all at the camp ground and beach.  Before we started Grampa told me it was gonna be like herding cats to get the shots done.  He was wrong ……that pack of grand kids were uber cooperative and we ended up get more shots than I had anticipated……..I hope they all had as much fun as I did….

Here are a few early peeks

To finish off my busy weekend I had the opportunity to shoot engagement photos for Lori and Greg.  I had the priviledge of having Lori go through one of my Learn To Run clinics at the local Running Room and when I heard she had gotten engaged I of course offered to take some pics for her.  Lori who we all nicknamed “Speedie” during the clinic later brough this Greg guy along a few times to join us in a run and well one thing led to another and now they are gonna get Married May long 2013!  They seem very happy together and we had a great Sunday afternoon shooting and talking!

Well first off many thanks to Joel and Izzy for having enough faith and courage to trust me with their special day!  I have known Joel most of his life as his parents and I were business partners for years and our business was actually run on thier family farm.  Joel has even worked for us while he attended college.  Izzy is new to me but it seems like she has always been in Joel’s life because they are so obviously in LOVE!!  The day went great…..nice service at New Life and then off to Uncle Bob and Aunt Gloria’s for a wonderful out door reception.  A good time was had by ALL. Here are a few of the early edits from the day.

A while back I had the opportunity to partake in a studio lighting workshop that had a fitness theme.  Learned a bunch and got to meet some very fit and amazing people.  The model who stood out most to me is….as it turns out…..a resident of good old Abbotsford where I live.  Her name is Bry Jensen and she has an amazing story …..go check her out at http://www.bryjensen.com/.

Also met a model/actress/stunt person at this shoot Alisson Amigo who hails from Winnipeg which is where I grew up so it truly is a small world out there…..

Here are some images from that day…

Managed to score a Media pass to this weekends Rugby match between Canada and Georgia at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.  This is the first time I have been able to be this close to the action at this level of Rugby.  The game was fast and furious and Canada came out on top!  Many thanks to Jose from Rugby Canada for hooking me up.  Here are a few of the pics  from the game….

Well here it is…Monday the end of our first long weekend of the summer.  Weather was decent on Saturday but the rest has been a tad wet!  Which of course is not odd for the west coast is it?

Jo and I took advantage of the weather on Sat. and headed up to Whistler for a day trip. Traffic up was fine and had no delays but we had a 20 minute delay on our way home due to a accident on the Sea to Sky.

The plan was to go for a bike ride…..picinic lunch…then wonder in the village and enjoy a treat from Cows!!  Sadly my knee said no to the bike part but Jo still had a great time riding around the trails by Lost Lake and while she rode me and my camera passed the time on the beach snapping a few landscape shots and a couple panos.

Oh yeah in case you didn’t know Cows is a rather awesome ice cream shop…..my personal fave being thier Peanut Butter Cup Cup!!!

Back at the beginning of April I tried my hand at an engagement shoot.  My first one actually and want to thank Joel and Izzy for letting me give it a go.  Was a great couple hours and I learned alot and got a few good pics that the couple were pleased with.  I am very much looking forward to shooting thier wedding in July. Check out the pics below…

Ok so I have been to busy to blog of late…and now I am gonna get back to it…
